The windows keep the plain grey liquid crystal of a classic quartz digital watch. The colour stays out of the panels, so the digits read like a real LCD and only the bezel arcs and accents carry it. The 32768 HZ at nine is the number of times a quartz crystal vibrates each second; halve it fifteen times and you get exactly one second. There are three lit windows. The top-left one holds the date with its weekday, and the one beside it shows the current conditions as an icon with the temperature beneath. The large lower window sets the hour and minute with the seconds beside them, and a column on the left marks AM, PM or 24-hour time. Battery sits at the top, the UV index on the right, heart rate and the daily step count along the foot. Two quarter arcs on the bezel speak in shape rather than numbers — the upper one fills as the battery charges, the lower one as the day's steps close on your goal. Every digit is set in a narrow cut of the segment typeface drawn for this line, with the unlit segments showing through behind, the way an actual liquid crystal panel leaves them visible. The CMDN plate at six carries a fine grain with a screw on either side, so it reads as metal set into the dial rather than printed on it. The colour comes in eleven choices — gold, yellow, orange, dark orange, green, olive, cyan, purple, pink, white and silver. In always-on mode the panel turns dark and every segment glows green.
